Στο πλαίσιο της πρωτοβουλίας SciFY Academy, η SciFY and NCSR Demokritos, for the first half of 2022, focus on Artificial Intelligence and its influence in various areas of our daily lives. We’re beginning by inviting you to the first online event on ‘Artificial Intelligence & the Future of Science’ on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, at 18:00.
Speakers:
- Manolis Patiniotis, Science and Technology Historian and professor in the Department of Sociology of EKUA: will introduce us to our topic with some thoughts on the presence of Artificial Intelligence in the public debate. His presentation is entitled “The Usefulness of a Useless Conversation”.
- Dr. Vassilis Konstantoudisthe Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at ΕΚΕΦΕ “Δημόκριτος”, will share with us some initial thoughts on the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and the past of Science, hoping that his apt reflection can lead us toward a more humane future of Science.
- Dr. Niki Vergadou, Researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of NCSR Demokritos, will talk to us about the use of Artificial Intelligence in computational materials science, which aims to highlight the microscopic mechanisms that determine the macroscopic behavior of materials, the prediction of material properties, and the design of new materials.
- Dr. Antonis Stellas, Data Scientist, NANOMETRISIS P.C., in this speech, will present his approach to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) from its theoretical (being a student) as well as its technological side (on his first steps in industrial high-tech applications). Let’s see together whether, in this case, AI is a continuation or a subversion.
Who it’s addressed to:
The event is aimed at scientists of exact sciences and humanities, researchers, students, as well as education and technology professionals. As always, the event is open to all interested in artificial intelligence, new technologies, and their effects on science.
SciFY Academy:
SciFY Academy is a series of educational activities open to all interested parties by the non-profit organization Science For You – SciFY for the free dissemination of knowledge. There are more than 10,000 beneficiaries already, and the actions are ongoing.
